Can-Pet Distributions Joining the Peterborough Animal Care Centre

Sep 21, 2022

PETERBOROUGH, ON (September 22, 2022)

As construction nears its final stages at 1999 Technology Drive, Peterborough Humane Society (PHS) is that much closer to moving into the new Peterborough Animal Care Centre (PACC). This new home will also include a new partner, Can-Pet Inc. Can-Pet is one of the most established distributors and marketers of pet specialty foods, servicing Eastern Canada for over 40 years. Nick Nicoloff, VP and his team at Can-Pet will be joining PACC by sponsoring the Promotional/Retail Area as ‘Jade’s Pet Boutique’.

“When I saw the stories on the news of the shelters across the country facing record surrender numbers and capacity levels and need for resources, I knew we needed to step in and help however we could. When we received this opportunity from PHS, it was truly serendipitous.” shared Nick Nicoloff, Principle & Vice President of Can-Pet Inc. “But this is just the start of the partnership, the best is yet to come! We can’t wait to see what other initiatives we can partner with our vendors and the Peterborough Humane Society to better animal wellness in our country.”

The boutique will be named after Jade, Nick’s late dog, the ‘President & CEO’ and Can-Pet ambassador who came into work everyday for 17 years. When she wasn’t at work, Jade also spent her days as a therapy dog at long term care homes with her mommy Cindy. Nick and the Can-Pet team look to honour her and all the amazing animals in our lives at this boutique.

The satellite promotional outlet will also support their vendors and have them contribute. The space will specialize in Canadian content, and environmentally friendly and economical products for consumers.

“We are so elated to be partnering with a great Canadian company with such a passion for animal wellness!” shared Shawn Morey, Executive Director of the Peterborough Humane Society “We are excited to have a space in the new Centre that will promote adoption and showcase quality products for adoptees.”

Construction at PACC is expected to be completed late fall, with the Humane Society moving in by year end. The Peterborough Humane Society is still looking to raise funds for the capital campaign, with multiple naming opportunities available.
