Licensing

It is our responsibility to provide a safe community for our citizens and their pets. Licensing plays an important role in our ability to fulfill this responsibility. If you own a dog or cat in the City of Peterborough, by law you are required to license them each year. By licensing your pet, you allow our team to easily ID your pet, contact you, and help you should your pet become lost or injured.

How to License your Pet

The City of Peterborough pet licensing program is managed by DocuPet. DocuPet provides a licensing solution that is simple and convenient and includes added benefits for pet owners. You can license online and immediately gain access to your pet’s profile, which is used to reunite you with your pet in the event that they become lost. You will be in compliance as soon as you complete the form, and your pet tag will be sent in the mail within 8 to 10 business days.

You can also license:

  • By phone: 1-855-249-1370
  • In person: Peterborough Humane Society, 1999 Technology Drive, Peterborough, ON K9J 6X7
  • Mail to: 1999 Technology Drive, Peterborough, ON K9J 6X7 Please make cheques payable to Peterborough Humane Society.
